Our love language is community, coffee, and good eats.
Meet Sarah
Hi there! I’m Sarah and I’m one half of this crazy venture! I live in Central with my daughter, Olivia and two fur babies (Roux and Rosie) …and a whole lot of chickens …and a rabbit! I’ve often been described as an old soul, and I’d have to agree. I collect things like handkerchiefs and anything with a vintage floral pattern makes me happy.
When I’m not nurturing my coffee addiction, and you know …starting coffee shops… I’m busy running Plum and Violet, an online boutique dedicated to finding and curating stylish clothes for young girls.
Meet Hope
Hiya, I’m Hope and I’m one of the co-dreamers for Java Mama. I’m a mama of three wild ones - Finn, Isla, and Reid. I’m an artist and designer, and I’m deeply nurtured by my surroundings. I often visit local antique shops just to get inspired by the aesthetic (and pick up another coffee cup).
On any given day, you can find me in my backyard studio designing and illustrating for my brand by HOPE johnson. Needing that visual and stimulating space to create from is what inspired Java Mama - a place to retreat to for new scenery and creative work.
HOW WE GOT HERE
We’re just two sisters who met for our regularly scheduled coffee dates after the carpool hustle was done. We’d leave our own city limits just to do that. Not long after the plea “our town needs a coffee shop” was mentioned, things were rolling. The time between “we should look into this” and the phone chat with an appealing coffee shop business model was approximately 5 hours. Within two months, names were signed, websites were built, and architects were busy.
Java Mama is a destination coffee shop catering to the work/stay at home parent (or simply anyone who appreciates good coffee and good eats). Java Mama sets the coffee shop experience apart by providing a stimulating area for little ones to be entertained while those grown ups who love those little ones can take a moment to work, change the scenery from home, or both ...and drink your coffee while it’s still hot.
We do this by offering memberships for both a VIP access to our menu (hello regular discounts) and a membership based play area (the real MPV).
For our shop, we believe that children bring in the color. So we sought out to intentionally design our shop with a natural aesthetic for the more sophisticated eye. We really want to provide a local coffee shop that caters to our community and the amazing people and little ones that make it up.
We also share more of our love language for wellness through our lifestyle blog that we named The Village. …because as parents, we’ve learned that it truly does take a village. Through our online community, we nurture wellness within the home, family, and lives of our community through sharing the humor, reality, and joys of parenthood.
No matter how you found us, whether locally in our small town or virtually online, we are just so happy you are here.
