OUR COFFEE ETHOS

Whether you take your coffee black, sweetened, or frothed (our our house fave cold brew), we hope you consider that moment a moment of self-care. Our ethos, our core value and culture at Java Mama, is for your coffee and plates to feel like comfort - like home. As parents ourselves, we understand how long those days are and how short the years seem to be. It’s why our espresso based drinks come with an extra shot. It’s why when you place a bite of our crawfish queso grits in your mouth, your heart just feels a little warmer inside. It’s why we’ve got a play area in our shop so you can blend those early childhood days with your kiddos right in with yours.

LET’S REFLECT ON OUR LAST YEAR OR SO

The stories we could tell you. On our VERY first day, our POS (point of sale) system completely went out. We hand-wrote every single order. We also made mistake, plenty of them. But we saw the silver lining in humanity when you guys showed up for us and gave us grace. Other funny stories? Sure, we’ve got plenty. Like the time we homeschooled our kids in between breaks while we were shut down during Covid. …like the time we started a coffee shop during Covid. The random little drawings done my kiddos that have colored at the play area table. The books kiddos bring for our lending library. The kind words our customers have reached out just to tell us about a friendly staff member.

This last year has been nothing short of amazing and crazy, difficult, tear-filled, rewarding, a learning experience, an even steeper learning curve. We knew God put this in our laps for a reason and with each new season, we’re learning more and more how to steward His word through creating a place that feels like home.

WHAT’S COMING?

We have kept a tight hold on the pulse of the ever changing industry, what our town needs, and ways we can serve you. We’re excited to spend the remainder of this year really tailoring to a brunch and lunch specialty shop. We’ve said from the beginning that we’re so much more than a coffee shop. What does that look like?

1) We’ve got a change of hours coming with the starting school year with a focus on breakfast and lunch.
2) We’re excited to announce (soon) two new chefs to the kitchen who are about to make your appetites so happy.
3) We’ll be catering more evening hours to events, pop-up shops, and more coming this fall.

A NOTE TO YOU

There are not enough words to express the amount of gratitude we have for you, our Java Mama family. We joke and laugh and play a lot behind the scenes, but we have found ourselves in pure emotion as we recount time and time again how much you’ve showed up for us as an example of what small town support really means. We are SO excited to continue to show up for you as we learn and apply …and continue to learn and apply all what we are being called to do for our town.
